remove thumbs down choice
removing the thumbs down will provide constructive critism and provide an alternative to allowing hate to exist.... ppl can thumb down for any reason that doesnt even mean they did not like it it could have been to short or too dark or some dumbshit but the ones with "down" syndrome trying to cause hate and discontent for the sake of it will be xposed and ostersized... leaving everyone but the 1% with a smile on our faces

The thumbs down option helps recommend the content which users like eliminating those they have previously marked as unwanted.

I agree with OP. If the only reason this exists is to recommend content for users, why do you need to display this on screen? Seems there is no good reason to show how many users didn't like content or even have a %. From what I see, the majority of dislikes, especially lately, are racially motivated. I bet if you ran a query on your data you would see a higher distribution of dislikes on interracial content. Also, if someone is going to dislike a users content, that user should have the option to unfriend that person. Why would anyone want to give access to their content to someone that is only there to downvote their uploads?
I don't believe the dislike option is being used for what you are saying it's intended for. It's merely a method for haters to get a bit of satisfaction. -

In Aug of last year an admin said this would be fixed. Well, it hasn't & that's pissing a lot of people off. Simply put up a like button & the problem is solved. Why are blocked users allowed to down-vote? Why does Xham allow anonymous down-voting, anyway. It only allows trolls & haters to screw with uploaders. Come on, change this flawed system of abuse.

I have to agree there - since changing the rating system, there does seem to be a inordinate number of down-thumbing going on.
Personally, I think the old 5-star rating system worked better than the thumbs up/down. It gave a more realistic impression of a video's rated quality. It would be a boon to be able to remove/change your vote as well...because accidents do happen.
