Allow users to treat blogs/stories as public, for friends, or password just like all other content.
I am not sure why stories fail to have the same permissions as videos and pictures. I think it makes sense to apply the same permission system to stories and blogs because personal information can be contained in both of those things as well.

Stories were dedicated to people who want to express themselves as writers, thus, they need wider audience and less restrictions.
However, if you want to have your content private, you can post it to Blog section and apply the necessary limits.
