delete profiles and content of members who do not access their profile for over a year.
This could be an optional check box when editing profiles. There are many reasons why someone cannot use a computer any more. They may be incarcerated, the country may ban access to the site, they may lose the ability to use their motor functions, or they may even die suddenly. He or she may no longer want their content on the site in such an eventuality. And unable to ask anyone else to delete it for them due to embarrassment or secrecy, an option like this may be a perfect solution.

I think in cases where someone wants to leave the site for a certain amount of time there should be an option to "SUSPEND" the account. If after the time limit you state on your suspend request, if you do not reply to an email to continue your suspension (for what ever reason) then your account would be closed.

I know it's crazy that someone would disapear from the site for over a year then return, but trust me, it happens. I was absent from this site for over a year, the reason doesn't matter but it wasn't because I abandoned the site, and I won't like to have my profile deleted, that would have made me lose my contacts, favorites, username, status, etc. And I was glad to see now that I am back that my account still exists after that long time. There are countless reasons someone could be away for a long time but still want to remain as a member and be able to log in their accounts in the future.
I'm not down-voting your idea by no ways, I agree but second that this should be **optional**. If a user wants to have their accounts deleted after a year inactive then yes be able choose it on their preferences. But in the other hand if another user, like me, wants to keep their account no matter how long they're absent then they should have the option as well.
