I guess for member's rank counting should be used other data, than the total number of his comments. Real "expert" must have gotten the real merits to become an "expert" and to get any higher rank :)) For example: big fixed number of member's profile/content views, big fixed number of his videos/photos favorited by other members, or big number of all rating votes for all his uploads. Aditional counters are necessary for this site, but not only for stupid comments improving :)
